The Award winning Stag and Hounds is a beautiful country pub based in Burrough on the Hill, Melton Mowbray. The 16th century pub has been at the heart of the community for generations. The pub was reopened in September 2019 winning the Great Food Club , Dining Pub of the Year for 2021 , a Michelin Bib Gourmand, placing 98 on Estrella Damm's Top 100 Gastropubs in 2022 and winning Leicestershire Tourism Pub of the Year
Our Team
After working in some of the best restaurants and hotels in the country, we stumbled upon this place and instantly fell in love. Our ethos here is to provide great beers, lovely food and a great welcome. Our menus change every week and reflect what is best in season at the moment as well as the best fish at market.

WWe are proud to showcase to best of what the region has to offer, from the locally brewed ales to trout caught at Rutland Water and even our own veg growing outside.

Pop in and enjoy a pint of craft lager from the award winning Round Corner Brewery, based in Melton Cattle Market, or perhaps an ale from fantastic local producers such as Charnwood Brewery or Oakham Ales.

Leicestershire has an amazing natural larder which we aim to showcase on our weekly changing menus. You will regularly find ingredients such as locally shot pheasant, hogget grown up on Burrough Hill, Martins Plums or Gillians Figs as well as others fruit and veg from green fingered villagers.
